I just put a brand new set of performance friction pads on my lady's 2003 Mitsubishi eclipse. I coated the sides of the pads with the brake grease as recommended blah blah blah etc. Her brakes are squealing like crazy during slow braking. Under hard braking, they dont squeal, but when she slowly brakes like when pulling into a parking space or a fuel pump, they squeal ungodly and annoyingly loud. I thought after a bit this might go away. However, still a problem. Anyone know what could be the problem or how I could fix it???

I have been using perf frictions from Autozone on my everyday driver for 6 years with not so much as one peep.. Hmmmm. Don't turn my rotors either..

nope, did not turn the rotors. maybe I should have? Or would it just be better to get new ones? hate to get new ones and still have a problem.

New rotors probably more cost effective... A rotor that has not been re-surfaced (turned) will cause gas displacement in the pads and lead to noise. Also it is possible for the machine shop to turn rotors on an angle and ruin them - I experienced careless work and had to buy new rotors. Break in pads - 30 stops @ 30 mph with 30 seconds between. If you did not do that the pads may be glazed. Go to bendix ceramics. :D

I put the heavy-duty ones on my RaodMaster Wagon I tow with.....last year, now with approx 6K miles on them they're starting to squeek same as you....low speed only.

Pisses me off too. Never really liked them to begin with

....Yes, I turned my rotors

The Z pads will make noise and dust. I always get the street pads and they are quiet and don't dust.
