I hope someone can help me out here with correct information. I have a friend who has had some water damage to a pergo type laminate flooring. The floor is about 4 years old , and is glued together. The humidifier leaked and destroyed a section in the hallway about 20 feet in length, and in the foyer a 10x12 section. The floor is bowing at the glue seams, and the thin foam under those areas of floor are obviously soaked. A flooring expert has looked at it and says the entire floor which incldes the above mentioned area plus a kitchen, dining room and the rest of the hallway will have to be replaced. This is an area of around 700 sq feet for $5,000.00.
I have looked on web sites and have found that with the proper tools only the damaged sections can be replaced. IS THIS TRUE?????
Thanks...George

yes it can be fixed in sections, but water travels along with moisture...i would just replace it all,but you can start taking it up untill the moisture is gone and then replace it,problem is finding the same product as now they dont glue the seams....you may want to shop around, because if you were local to me i could replace all your floors for under 3,000 easy...i also sell products out of pro-source and they are all over the world(look them up)they are a wholeseller for installers and you can get 700 sf for around $1400 for nice stuff along with todays 2in1 padding it wont sound so hollow, and you can install it yourself,it is so easy a caveman could do it:eek: ...i mean real easy like putting legos together,my wife finished my kids room and she cant change a air filter...try doing it and you will be surprised how easy it is,i sold some to a guy at a&e performance and he wanted my guys to install it,i told him how easy it was and then showed him in seconds and he did it and was amazed how easy it was..
