For those who haven't heard yet, Phil Everly, of the Everly Brothers, passed away Friday at age 74 from chronic pulmonary disease. One of the best voices ever with his brother Don, they were such a pleasure to listen to while I was growing up......such harmony made me cry, they were the absolute best.
Sure lost a great musician Friday. I can' t imagine how bad Don must feel...they were true icons in the realm of Rock and Roll.......one of a kind in sound. I dearly loved them.

Though they had a nasty on stage break-up, Phil said that they were both closer than brothers, and still loved each other. Sad day, these guys were just absolutely great.

One of the best Duo"s ever. I can remember seeing them on American Bandstand. whenever I'd hear a Everly Brothers song I'd stop what I was doing just to listen to it. such great songs for the era. So sad. One of my favorite songs is Wake Up Little Susie. and Bye Bye Love.. Just last week the Wife and I were in Nashville and went to Studio B where the Everly Brothers and Elvis and so many others did there recordings.

They were great sorry to hear. On another note if you were around than like me you are an old fart.;)

R.I.P

I am writing about that in next inner circle....my wife and I had a chance to se them when they reunited maybe 20 years ago for a short time. Great harmony.....
His death was attributed to a long history of smoking....very unusual for the family to let that be known. Not a pleasant way to live your last years of your life.

Not trying to sound preachy.....butt.....

I didn't know that, Dennis.....that's a drag.....but you sure were lucky to hear them in person! Now that's what I call a true music lover........you sure were fortunate to hear that harmony for real........I'm glad for you. Envious, really. I know you've always loved the real music we used to listen to all of the time. Today, nobody could even THINK of touching the Everly Brothers.....

I quit smoking pipes (I never inhaled) in 1989. Hope it won't catch up to me......You're not sounding preachy, you're telling the honest truth. (like a kind warning to us) You did it right.
