Taken at Indy Speedway. Interesting story first. I was sitting with a group of guys next to the road where the cars were leaving the show, to drive onto the Indy 500 track for a lap. The guys were trying to get the drivers to do a burn out. Well, some did, some didn't. They would say things like "Hey 57 Chevy! Will that thing turn the wheels?" A GN pulled up and did a real long smoky burn out. Then two security guys in golf carts pulled up. One guy told another group of people to pack up and leave, for encouraging the burn outs. The other security guy had a little talk with the GN driver. Then the GN driver turned to us and said "Thanks. Now I can't drive on the track".

Interesting......kinda like that 'Superbird'.............

Looks like you had a great time. I used to go to the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Indy back in the late 70's early 80's. 5000 street machines ruling the fairgrounds and the streets at night. Good ol days.

They let all participants a lap on the Indy track too. Tight security back then too. I parked my 66 Chevelle on the track and took some pics and got reamed out by security. Still got the pic somewhere. Did you get a chance to tour the museum on the infield????

didnt get a chance to meet you Rick, but we had a small gathering near the rear of the Holley Trailer.... later on we met the owner of GNX 488 as he pulled up next to our cars.... really nice guy/family.

I agree on the superbird/challenger.... really neat lookin car... one of the better looking 'retro body kits'

if you dont mind Rick, can i add a few pics too?...

Yes but I was disappointed that I couldn't see the pace cars (like the 89 TTA). Tour guide said he worked at Delphi in the 80's and on the GN project. He also said Buick never did too well at Indy, and the GN motor had no connection with the Indy cars. I told him I've heard otherwise. Oh, he said the pace cars are in storage and come out once a year for a special pace car day. He wouldn't tell me where the "storage" was.

I didn't see a GNX there. I would have liked meeting you.
Add as many pics as you like!

The Xrented mustang is a member of the bangshift forums. GNX 488 is owned by a family here in Kansas, had dealer tags on it, spoke briefly with the owner and got several pics of it. We went 'round the track, I jumped out and got shots of the wife's car so we didn't have to buy them from photosports. Quite a turbo buick turnout this year. I'll be posting pics as well.

A local guy from my area did the UPS truck. I BELIEVE it took at least 2 (possibly 3) to get the parts needed. I saw it about 1/2 way thru the body work.
