Does anyone have any pics and/or opinions on 275-60's or 50's on stock 7" T wheels? I'd like to see if they bulge out too much, or are OK. Seems to me that 275 is pushing it, but I could be wrong.

Thanks, Mark

I don't know if it can help you, but I have some pictures of P275-60-15's mounted on stock-appearing 8in. wide GN wheels...
Just let me know...
Claude :)

the 60's fit fine on a stock T-wheel. The bulge is less than with the 50's and they will wear more evenly across the tread.

There were 275/60's on my 87 T when I got it......they lasted about a week...lol. I got tired of the sidewall flex not to mention it threw the speedo off by quite a bit....as in 7-8 mph. I went back to a 265/50 and it now sits level and speedo is back within 1 mph of correct. I also didn't like the hiked-up rear look it gave the car.....that was cool back in the day, but I like my stuff to sit nice and level....well, unless it's up a little because I stuffed a 28" slick or ET Street in the fenders...lol. Here's a pic of the 265/50's.

Other then a slightly different backspace, is the gn wheel of the same width as the T wheel ?

Thanks for the pics, guys.... I was under the impression that the GN wheels were 8". Am I wrong?

No they don't. Both are 15x7, but the vector has a little less BS.

The steel GN has 4" of BS
The aluminum vector on 84/85 GN's and 86/87 TR's has only 3.75"

The quarter inch is a lot when your stuffing 275/50's on a car. I don't remember where I found it. It's sort of common knowledge about TR's.

I don't see why GM would engineer different dimensions on the wheels for placement on identical cars. Wouldn't that tiny amount make a difference in the suspension charachteristics and/or handling?

Whaduya mean? GM, in their all knowingness, even put different dimension wheels on the same car. Puzzled? .......................... Your TTA. :p

Those wheels are specific to front/rear like all T/A that year. The wheels were stamped as such. But a different offset for GN wheels compared to T wheels for the exact same car? I'm skeptical....

You may be right but I still haven't seen documentation on this. It just doesn't make any sense for GM to do it.

It's hit or miss (no pun intended). With T-type wheels, they will fit fine. With GN wheels, plan on using a 1/4" spacer. If you don't have to, good, but I would plan on needing one. If you have the wheels widened to 8" and keep the stock 4" BS, they will fit fine, with no spacers required.

Nitto tires are slightly Narrower than BFG's (and probably MT radials), so if you run those, you may get away with no spacer.
