His records should be omitted...............DRUG USE!
was babe ruth on drugs? and please before you answer if you saw the movie "the Babe" disreagard anything in that movie. It was the poorest portrayl of ruth. But pitchers are not throwing the ball harder than they have in the past, actually back in the day pitchers would throw 9 innings no problem but now 100 pitches is their limit.Originally posted by Pitbozz
All you hear on ESPN and in the newspapers now is "an asterick should be placed by his name" or a "footnote should be used in the record book" and other such nonsense. These ball players have been playing under the rules set forth by baseball and under the current guidelines they are free and clear. Everybody is so quick to claim that Bonds is on roids and that is why he is hitting the ball so well. He probably is. Don't you think the pitchers are on roids too? They probably are. Doesn't that mean they throw the ball faster thus making it harder to hit? Who's to say Hank Aaron or Willie Mays wasn't on them? I would wager that the list of people NOT on performance enhancement drugs is shorter than the list of those who ARE. Until baseball draws a line in the sand and makes testing mandatory across the board and bans steroids and other drugs, it is all a moot arguement.
They are testing, random. Homeruns have decreased by a significant amount. Look at bonds, he's gotten smaller since the year he hit 73. its not just the drugs thou, ball parks are smaller, the balls are harder. Even the players and Bonds himself said the balls are harder. I work for The pittsburgh Pirates and I have done my own research on the ball. I have balls from the early 90's, balls from 98-current. the newer balls are wound tighter there is even a difference in balls of those years, the tighest wound balls i found were from 2001. But take the beginning of this season, they need people to come when the weather is still a little sour in the northern states so they fed the jacked up balls into the system and homeruns galore. Homeruns get people interested. Pitchers are watered down now too. Guys pitching now woulda been in double A 20 years ago. Back to ball parks, there was never a no-hitter thrown at forbes field because of how big it was, it was easy to drop in a single. All stadiums were big, Tiger Stadium was 440 to center. Big mac hit a lot of his homers in the Cookie Cutter busch stadium which was only 330-335 down the line. now granted he was hitting balls so far out it didn't matter. But take SBC Park (pac bell) in San Fran, its 309 to the right field wall, bonds is a dead pull hitter. You think thats fair? That park was built to help barry's numbers which in turn helps the giants rake in more money. People say, "Wow he hit one in the bay again" its not as fas as you think. Barry has yet to hit one in the River here in Pittsburgh.Originally posted by chevyII
The best part will be if they start to test. Think of all the bloated players that will deflate like a balloon. There is no question hes on roids. I hope he still has a few years left after they test him to see how good he really is.
