Yeah, it can be a money game. I know a couple guys who have no BS race cars they will bring out on the street, and I haven't seen a true street car yet thats faster. These guys have single digit cars on motor then spray anyway when they race a 12 second car.

On a side note, I like the idea of the show, I was glad to see some familiar chitown racers, but the host sucks and needs to go. I'd love to see him show up at the real street races with that attitude, he'd get his ass whooped.

The guy calling out the camaro was asking for land,WTF?

You don't call a guy out and then ask for a spot.

I always had a few rules when I negotiated.

#1 Never call anyone out...let them come to me.

#2 it cost $100 to look under my hood, and no you do not get it back if you decide not to run.

#3 I am not in real estate, but if you want land...its $100 a length, you can have it back IF you win.Oh,and BTW "I get the hit"

#4 never brag, just say "I got lucky" ( I try not to win by too much, could get you shot if the other guy is a sore loser) Make it as close as I can and still win.

I always keep an eye out for the guys that talk alot of trash.Have a buddy watching with a stop watch, its not exact but it will get a close idea of what they are running, and if it changes (I.E. he has started to use his juice).

I never hit them with all I have, save some for the good run.I usually know what I have covered, but you never know what they have.

Thats TX style negotiations.I don't need no more cars so you can keep your junk...especially if I beat it.

This pinks show should be called PUNKS instead.

I agree with notplayn I build the cheapest motors I can and beat expensive ones all the time.My TA motor is my first real expensive setup ever.

Can you elaborate on 3 please.

sure no sweat

Say a guy comes to you wanting to race then asks for 6 lengths to run you.

You say OK it will cost you $100 a length + the bet.Meaning if we race for $500 he has to put up $600 on top if he wants the head start.I always get the hit if I am giving up land (means no flag man,the race starts when I move)typically by the time they see me move I am real close to them.If he wins he gets my $500 and he keeps his $1100.I win I take his $1100.If I am handicapping myself,I should be entitled to a little more for a win i think.

Basically if the guy doesnt want to do it heads up he either pays for it or goes home. This gives them a little incentive to not ask for a spot.I feel if you can't run heads up you shouldnt be racing at all.

Most times I wager by the length of the win,say I lose by 6 cars from a heads up start, and the wager is $100 a length,I pay up $600.Or vice versa.

Basically be smart when negotiating,if you give up land, always try to get the move. Then it really turns into less of a head start for the other guy.Smart street racers think of every advantage they can, even against slower cars.

any other advice? I tried to PM you, but my PM's dont work for some reason.

The show is probably for an audience who knows nothing about cars  This way it looks good...... :p

Easily one of the dumbest shows I've ever watched.... Well, the 15 minutes or so I could actually sit through.

Pinks was actually entertaining.. Not much of the BS negotiations. Mike wanted a heads up race and thats the way it was for the most part and the guy with the most money.. Harley Davidson.. lost. The guy with the old suzuki knew what he had and how to use it. The guy with the HD was unprepared.

Oh and did any one catch the host telling them during the first meeting that the racers could watch their componets race?

And how old are these shows? The guy with the HD said this was a new 2003 HD.

I liked that one too. Very little bitchin', whinin' and complainin'. The guy with the Suzuki knew he could do it and just wanted to race. He even gave the HD guy a length when he started complaining about his clutch. Very close races. If they did it all without the host it would be much better.
