I was looking at where to place my EGT probe tonight. Trying to cram it near the oxygen sensor will be a ton of work. I see an good place to put it -- down the pipe below the #2 cylinder leg in the straight part of the header "log". Anyone else put their EGT in this location?

Fred,
I was able to use a std 3/8" drill and just dropped it down into the hole between the battery and the intercooler neck to drill the 1/8" hole right before the turbo flange. I'm pretty sure this is where most people install it. You might take a look and see what you think.
Hope that helps.

Mine is in the header just 90* away from the O2 sensor bung at the bottom of the RH header up pipe. I think it's easier to compare EGT readings with others having it in this position since it is most commonly installed there.

I have my EGT between 2 and 4 and it works great, installs great, and it's out of the way, so I don't have to worry about the leads burning up or any of a dozen other problems that placing it under the turbo may precipitate...

I highly recommend it!!!

:D

Mines about 3.5" down from the O2 sensor and works fine. Seems similar to the area you were describing. Much easier for me to get the right hand drill in there with everything on the car.

Works great and will indicate fine.

What could be the difference in that location WOT maybe 20*F???

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the feedback!:)

I have successfully put the EGT between the #2 and #4 cylinders and will soon find out what temperature the EG is there! I suspect that the location at the O2 is basically the temperature from the #2 cylinder, so putting the probe by another cylinder (with the RJC plate) should provide about the same temperatures.

I will soon find out.:D
