Brake boosting awhile back, heard a bang and lost all gears. Finally got around for the rebuild and removed the converter today. I found a few black plastic pieces inside the converter. Can anyone tell me what they are and can the converter be repaired. The converter is a billet 9x11 3400 lockup. Thanks, Zac

From research it appears that the 9x11 uses plastic washers similar to OEM converters. It appears many "high performance" converters use Torrington bearings instead. I guess I will upgrade when it gets cut open and cleaned. Thanks TCS.

That is the conical

washer that controls lock-up disc shut heights {lock-up} and internal converter endplay. I make a billet aluminum version that takes a bearing for my extreme duty D-5 / D-6 converters.

Mike.
