Anybody ever replace these things? There is a good picture of one on page 6-9 in Peter Serios manual "How to Eliminate Window Rattles and Wind Noise". He says that the average home mechanic shouldn't attempt to replace these and to take it to a glass shop........ I don't like the idea of a glass shop tech driving my car! And both of the stabilizer guides on my car are broken:mad: ......

Go to a junkyard and get replacement glass. Costs around $20 each. All 2 door G-bodies have the exact same side glass. I must have 6 sets laying around.

No, not at all. Actually, just three 10mm nut hold the glass to the regulator track. You will have to remove the window sweep, too. Gives you room to pull it out after you unfasten the glass from the track.

This is not a hard fix. I am not a mechanic.

I purchased the anti rattle "kit" from Kirban along with the Seros book. Should have a second person to hold the window at all times...

The window came out easily. Just gotta drill out two rivets. Take a metal bit smaller than the 1/4" that is suggested. tap the edges of the rivet (don't worry about the glass as the rivet sits on top of the plastic piece.) Once you tap it in a coupe of places, the flat portion of the rivet comes off with help from some needle nose pliers. This will allow the removal of the plastic piece.

Next, you'll notice that all you have left is the chewed up stub from the rivet. You won't be able to pull it through the hole in the plastic grommet until you give it a few strategic squeezed to take off the edges. Once this is done, it slides out and you're done.

I just did my passenger window. Th kit came with ALL of the hardware necessary, even the fuzzy guides, and new plastic clips for the doors.

I was time consuming but not hard and with a few adjustments (and all new weather stripping) , the door seals like a new Mercedes.... Well worth the investment.

If you have questions feel free to email/pm me...
