Plate on timing cover.

What does this plate do or what's it for? My gasket set came w a gasket for it. It's on the driver's side of the timing cover.

Keeps all your oil from slinging out of the block! . Put the fuel pump there for NA motors.

That is where a mechanical fuel pump would bolt up to in the pre fuel injection days.
