I think there was a post on this a while back, Try searching it might give you more info. As far as for me i have ps2 and love it... This is gonna go both ways on the board..... I think no matter which one you buy you'll be happy. These systems are nothing like the old ones.... I think there all good...

right now i have just about every game system but...i like ps2 the best cuz basicly all i play is car games

i put a x-bx and my ps2 into a computer case so there in 1 unit its preety cool.

i would go with ps2 if u play car games alot

XBox is nice since you don't have to buy any extra memory cards and it's cheaper than the PS2. There aren't as many games, but they've gotten alot more lately so perhaps they will continue to increase the selection. PS2 is nice since you can play DVDs with no additional cost, but you gotta buy the memory card. It's also $179 but has more games. I went with the PS2 and so far love it.

EB Games near me sells used XBox's for $89 and used Gamecubes for $39.

I like PS2 better, ive played both a ton. One of the good things about Xbox is yes you dont need memory cards or anything, and yes the graphics are a bit better. If your going to do a lot of online playing I would say the PS2 because the fact it doesnt cost any money to play online PS2 games. Xbox games right now is 50 bucks a year but in 2004 is gonna be like 5 or 6 bucks a game per month. PS2 have a much greater variety of games than Xbox's does. There both the same price 179.00 right now. I would say PS2 but thats my opinion.

X-BOX

My choice will be the X-BOX even though I don't play it much. My son plays with it. Its true the PS2 has WAY more games but the X-BOX has WAY faster processor and better video card (I think its a 733MHZ P3 with a Nvidia G-force chip set) and also it you have a good home entertainment system you and play games with Dolby Digital surround sound. Also you can play DVD's with a seperate remote vs. the PS2 you will have to use the controller to use the DVD functions.

I've got a friend with a PS2 and I have an XBox. It's good to be able to play both almost at will, but I'm glad I have the XBox. PS2 has more games, but that gap is closing. XBox is a more advanced platform, better graphics and play control once you figure out the HUGE controllers!
It depends on what you wanna do with it. I like Role Playing Games and Driving games the best (I know, weird combo). For RPGs nothing can touch the XBox. Morrowind is the best game ever and is way too advanced for PS2. With the memory on XBox it's ideal for big RPGs.
For racing games...two words...Gran Turismo. It's hands down the best ever, and only available on PS2. I've played a ton on XBox. Rallisport is cool, and has decent play control. Apex has a decent storyline, but the play control is too twitchy. Project Gotham sucks. I'm waiting for Midnight Club (street racing), hopefully that's gonna be sweet. But bottom line is they can't touch GT.
Halo and Grand Theft Auto are each console's MONEY games. I like Halo better because of the multiplayer ability. A lot of people like GTA better because of how open it is. It's all in what you wanna play. Good luck!

Def XBOX, ps2 has been out almost a year or more longer, hence more games!!.

Xbox kicks sonys ass in every area, not even close.

Also the X-BOX has awsome mulitplayer games like 4 players and can also link the game systems also. Halo 2 is comming out very soon.
