Taken from the FAQ section of the this board:
"Avatars are small graphical images that you may upload in your profile best describes yourself. Once they are enabled for your account, avatars are displayed below your username on all posts that you make.
In order to have a custom avatar enabled for your account, you must have more than 500 Please contact admin for avatar with less than 500 posts. Once you reach that amount, you may upload an avatar of your choice.
Avatar images must be no larger than 64 pixels high and 64 pixels wide, must be 5k or less in file size and may not contain any advertisements or be offensive in any way. Site management reserves the right to approve or deny any avatar for any reason.
WARNING: "Free posts" or posts of any nature that resembles a post that is only made simply to increase post count and otherwise has no content or no contribution to this community will not be tolerated and will result in a member's post count reverting to zero. The intentional waste of this site's resources with "free posts" are the main reason that site management was hesitant about implementing the "custom avatar after a certain amount of posts" feature in the first place. We want this board to be utilized properly and not wasted. In addition, we want the people who actually deserve an avatar by helping this site grow to get one.
Please do not abuse this.
You may also have an avatar enabled to your account by referring other people to this site."
