Ok guys I picked up an 87 GN last fall. I have the car running smooth. A little about the car is that it has original flawless paint and 8600 original miles. I have upgraded the fuel pump and added a hotwire kit and installed 160 degree thermostat. I also ordered a scanmaster. The car is basically stock except for an old kenne bell chip. I know that the exhaust is going to have to be replaced as it has a small rust hole in it. I also did the spring cleaning.

What upgrades can I do to this car without compromising the value of this low milage stock car?

Oh on a second note my radiator seems a little gummed up because the car sat for 9 years.

Well, I'd recommend getting rid of the old chip. You'll get better performance AND driveability with a newer chip. Try a turbotweak. Also look into getting new injectors that are matched up to the chip.

Replace the motor mounts and trans mounts after 25 yrs im sure they need it. You should post some pictures of the car and some up close pictures of the engine compartment to see if anything was altered. Keep it stock definitely get some new injectors and a street chip Turbo Tweek chip.
when you have your fuel injectors off its a great time to replace the injector harness too. Check for any cracks in the exhaust headers. make sure you
change the oil from now on with some ZDDP added.

this all depends on your goals and how fast you want to go and how much you wanna modifie the car

dont really want to mod up the car too much given its low miles and condition I dont want to affect the value of the car in a negative way

im my opinion go fast mods as long as the interior exterior and look of car dosnt get hurt in now way will drop value if anything the facted that its fast make it worth more money but you also gotta look how are your brakes floor is it a t top car dos top leak is motor completely orginal other than the chip how suspension dos car smoke dos it have any pre turbo leaks

The 42# 'ers from turbo tweak worked for me, but a lot of guys go right to the 60# 'ers. If you aren't going to mod much the 42's should be fine!
x2 on the motor and trans mounts.

get some pictures of it up check number on the chip do you have a boost gauge is fuel pressur reg stock these cars are just like a women you gotta look at everything before you move futher ahead or youl end up with it sitting next to your house like me for a year cuz you missed something

I've got some low mileage 42# injectors and a Turbo Tweak "Street Chip" for 93 octane pump gas available.
If interested, PM me and maybe we can swing a deal for ya!

thanks,

dave
Where were you 2 years ago!? :D

Oh, and I don't have to tell you, but I will anyway! Keep EVERY original part you take off so it can be put back to stock easily.

i was gonna go to 60's but im my opinion there to big for stock and wont be big enaugh for my next step
42.5 are a good plan if you dont plan on going bigger turbo from what iv seen this is good set up

Loaded question maybe as everyones idea of a perfect GN is different. To be safe I would avoid to much bling-think back to the old muscle cars that had chrome everything and restorers quickly changed all that back to factory look.

Standard upgrades that will save a future buyer money-such as exhaust or some gauges or other upgrades that make a car better running-but not appear to be beat on should be ok. I dunno,I sometimes wonder if buying a $10k car and doing what the ever hell you want to it without worring about saving it for somebody else is a better choice.

I just got a WE4 back in Oct and it ran really nice. You would be suprised what you find broken or missing on the car when you take it apart.
im putting the car back to stock. but it has 42.5 injectors, hotwire kit, new injector harness, gauges, and a couple of other things so I know its running right. As for the muscle car enthusiast wanting to take their cars back to stock. I think the biggest persuasion is what we all see on Barret Jackson
and Mecuum auctions. People are getting more money for unmodified stock cars. Im glad I got two cars one to go fast and one to shine!!

every ones got there 2 grains to put in but again if you keep all the stock parts and you dont cut anything up really the sky is the limit
