pleeeaaassseeee help check engine light

My check engine light comes on and then goes off and i cant aford a scan tool is there a way to find the code with out a scan tool? Someone told me to use a paper clip and ground 2 of the pins and the check engine light will flash the code.

I had the same problem

I had the same problem with my light after numerous tests on every single sensor it turned out to be a bad egr valve. Are you stumbling or no power when driving it? If so it is your egr valve also if you can't get the paper clip thing or an auto zone key to flash your codes your main chip on your computer is bad. The calpak will not register any codes as it is a limp mode chip just to get you back home. Hope this helped you.
