I have my intake manifold and plenum off while I'm doing my cam swap and they are very dull. The finish makes them almost look white. What can I do to shine them up? I tried a polishing wheel and polish, but it didn'y help a bit.
Thanks,
Mike

Light dusting of hi-temp aluminum spray paint...then light dusting on top of that with hi-temp clear...the aluminum will look real light
after application...the clear darkens it up and also protects against dirt/grease which can be easily wiped off...after some heat cycles as the paint cures the color changes and matches the stock color...I've done that to the intake/valve covers on both my cars...I think it looks better than stock...you can also have the pieces bead blasted prior to painting if they are in really bad shape...

spray them with Alumi-blast. It's a paint that gives a finish similar to natural aluminum. Looks good. If you want them polished, you're looking at a bunch of work. They'll need to be sanded smooth then polished. I don't think you could get the manifold to look worth a crap without 1000 hours of time in it. The plenum isn't too bad since it's got mostly flat sides and is small. I say spray it with Alumi-blast and polish the fins just for simplicity.

Sounds like good ideas. These are all products available in Hardware / Autoparts stores?

i say get it powdercoated, will come out and look Sweet and easy to clean
