I wanted to know what is the preferred portable GPS brand that is used in the mainland.

It's available and sold here but going to get one for a friend for christmas that is moving to seattle. I want to know what is a good one that is easy to use and works anywhere in the u.s.

The brands that I heard was the top choices is:

Tomtom
Garmin
Nuvi

i use/sell the Delphi nav200 works well,inexspensive....

If you do a search, I just asked a similar question a few weeks ago. EVERYONE recommended the Garmin units.

I ended up buying a Garmin nuvi 350 and it is awsome!

back in the late 80's/early 90's, while in the air force we tested numerous GPS recivers, Garman was the best at the time still pretty good that what i bought for my bike and car.

Ok I thought Garmin would be the best one but I checked out radio shack and them got this Mio GPS that they said sells better than the garmin units.

Radio shack has the Mio for $199 and Pep Boys sell the same one for $149.......not sure of the model number ...;)
