Since the RJC down pipe has a much larger waste gate puck then factory do I port larger then 1 1/8"? Like 1/8" smaller then the RJC puck? Also The RJC WG puck doesn not open "fully" like the factory it hits the side of the down pipe. Is this ok?

Not at the moment. But i pulled the turbo to replace oil drain gasket as well as header-turbo gasket. While its off i figured id port the WG hole before install the new down pipe.

Well, if you ever go to sell the turbo someone with a stock size puck is going to be screwed when they go to use it. Just something to think about.

Its a factory turbo. I was under the impression with a larger down pipe its almost always needed to port the waste gate hole.

Sorry, wrong impression, leave it alone like Forcfed said. :)

I have installed many RJC DP's with the big puck on street and race cars, and many others have also that work fine.

Internet lore has lots of opinions and BS, as well as good info, you did the right thing by asking, because you could cause an issue that is not easily fixed!

hello people; Did you call RJC and ask that question? I would and when you do post the answer if you don't mind.
thanks

I will call rjc to confirm. But in oter words i should be fine? Have not had any trouble keeping boost at 20lbs with stock downpipe.

Like Nick, forcefed3.8s & the others have said….Leave it alone. Doesn't sound like you need to mess with it .

Talked to RJC they as well said porting is not needed. Smoothing the sharp ridge would help they said. Only reason for larger puck is so you can port of needed. Looks like i will leave it until i have issues. Thanks for all the input.
