How long should I see a fuel pressure reading on my hood mounted gage? Upon shutting car off, I see pressure for about an hour or maybe two hours @ most, then down to zero. Should I be holding fuel pressure for longer or do I have an injector leaking down? My oil smells a bit of gas and Blm's are sometimes in mid 40's region. O2's @ 3/4 to full throttle are sometimes 830's on scanmaster.

Fuel pressure bleed off is normal mine goes to zero in just over an hour.

Blm's should be reading 128 +/- 10

o2's seem a little rich but that depends on your boost and fuel pressure etc.

Thanks. Have played w/ fuel pressure but only changes blm values slightly. As far as boost, I am maybe 1 psi over stock (still need to hook up boost gage). My oil smells of gas on dipstick. Does anyone else smell even a faint amount of gas in the oil (on dipstick)? These blm's have troubled me on and off for two years now. :( Also, New injectors (MSD 50 lb'ers) and matching lubrant chip installed year ago. Does not seem to have vac leak (replaced ALL hoses/lines).

Lubrant chip? Go with a TurboTweak chip and see if that helps.

Replacing all the vac lines is good but you could still have a leak at a gasket or other area.

I guess when I change my oil after a few months of hard driving it might smell a little bit.

Thanks Black metal. I have been pondering about getting a Turbo tweak chip, will look into it. As far as a Gasket leak goes, what is the best method to go about locating one? Is the soapy water trick the way to go? Or should I somehow introduce smoke into a vaccuum line or something. The Lubrant chip was part of the package deal when I purchased the 50lb Msd injectors.

Smoke is great. If you want to use soapy water you will probable need to pressurize the intake so it will bubble.

If all of your blm cells are high then you need to lower the fuel pressure. If only a couple of low load ones are high you probably have a vacuum/exhaust leak. If you decide to change chips I love the TT chip. HTH. james

Just the idle cell is high, It looks ok when cruising.

Sounds like you have an exhaust/vacuum leak or a chip that just runs rich at idle. I would start by using smoke or soapy water and pressure to find any leaks. If you're sure there isn't one of those I'd check one more time and if you don't find anything you might want to try a different chip. It is possible that the chip has too much fuel at idle. FWIW as nice as it is to have all of your blm cells dialed in it's not that important. If you're sure you don't have leaks and the cells aren't out of range then you're fine. It just means the the tables in the chip are off and the ecm compensated for it. As long as it's within range then the ecm had the ability to compensate and all should be good. I personally would make really sure that everything else is good and would want to try another chip before I made that conclusion though. HTH. james

Thanks James. I'm just concerned about the oil smellin of gas. I mean its not as if I could light the dipstick on fire, but there is a smell of gas. Probably due to the high blm #'s. I guess beyond finding a leak, the next cheapest thing would be to order new chip (turbotweak). Oh, and if I was to use smoke as method to find leak, how do I go about pressurizing the manifold?

FWIW I should have said you're chip could be LEAN at idle and not have enough fuel programmed into it. High BLM's mean the chip has ADDED fuel in it's "long term" fuel compensation.

I was off on that part. Probably a product of too much scotch and not enough attention. I'm sorry about that. If you have high blm's and your oil smells strongly of fuel something is causing you to run rich. If it's just at low load stuff I'd look long and gard at vacuum exhaust leaks. If you get a smoke machine it should pressurize the system enough to leak out. In another thread recently one of our members posted up a drawing of how to make one. Sorry about the mistyping in my last post.

Edit: Here's the link to that post I was talking about.

Never thought of checking that. Can an out of adjustment cam sensor cause these problems? I would need some kinda tool to check it, which I don't have. These cars can frustrate a person to no end sometimes. Would really like to get things straightened out as summer is approaching. :frown:
