I saw this on another forum, figured I'd post here. If you have a Facebook account look up Batey Racing...
https://www.facebook.com/pages/BATEY-RACING/87033896987?sk=wall

It appears they are doing all the legwork to get this track built. I hope it really does happen. Bill Batey is not only the owner of Batey Racing but a Moreno Vally city councilman as well.:D

From their Facebook page:
Build it and they shall come.....

How interested are you ?
60 acres of land in Perris CA. has been given the thumbs up to build a racetrack.
City Council members were approached with the idea and told former Mayor of Moreno Valley (and soon to be on State Assembly) Bill Batey that they liked the idea.
Sunday, March 11 at 10:00 A.M. a meeting will be held for ALL that are interested. The meeting will be held to discuss the particulars of locating a track in the Inland Empire. The prospective track will be located East of Perris Valley Airport. EVERYONE is encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be held at:
12625 Frederick Street Suite F13_F14
Moreno Valley, CA. 92553
This is located in the Towngate Shopping Center

Please RSVP at Bateyracing@gmail.com

NOW IS THE TIME TO PARTICIPATE!!!!

Please let me know if you can attend!
If you are a CONTRACTOR/RACER please let me know!!

Posted after the meeting:
Thank you to all who came out to the meeting in Moreno Valley!! We had a great turn out (around 100+). The dream of a drag track built by racers for racers, will be coming to fruition in the near future, with the help of all those who have so graciously offered their expertise & services to make this happen. We will be in contact with all who signed in at the meeting. For those that did not attend and would like to offer services or anything at all, please email bateyracing@gmail.com, and we will include you in our database.

This is the first good news, So Cal drag racers have had in a long time. It's right at the Perris Valley drop zone too.:)

I don't care what the weather man says. Today is a beautiful day...

Someone was working on a track out there a few years ago and it fell apart. That would be way cool to have a real strip to run at so close to me as well. :)

Outstanding! Your right, it did turn out to be a beautiful day after all. Thanks for posting, Rodney.

I sent an Email, asking if they needed my services as a Glazing Contractor. Would be fun to be a part of this.

We'll see.

Elevation there is about 1200 ft. The hills that surround the valley keep the winds down in the afternoon (compared to Fontana). It does get a bit hot in the summer time. When it did, one could just use the pool at the dropzone. Could also get some nice overhead shots or vidio of cars going down the track from under canopy. This is what I do when my friends race their boats at Lake Elsinore. Here's a shot.

Hopefully it wont go the way of Mopar Drag city in Banning....they got our hopes up wit that years back and then regulated the project to death...

And, I'm sure the tree huggers will do everything in their power to throw a wrench in the works.

It's a great location. It takes me an hour and twenty minutes to get there from Huntington Bch. For those in So OC, it would be a straight shot out 74 Ortega Hwy. It's right off the 215 Fwy for those coming from SD. It aint OCIR, but we'll take it.:)

From what I've read the surrounding area where the track is supposed to be built is designated industrial use only. I'm not familiar with the regulations that govern industrial use only land, but does this mean that tree huggers and such do not have any say in what can be built because it's in an industrial zone? I sure hope not because I would hate to see this track not happen because of some stupid loophole in the system.

It would only be a little over an hour away from me...which is a lot closer than Fontana was.:)

What's funny about this is that when they closed Riverside Raceway back in '80's they were supposed to build a track in Perris. I don't want to rain on anyones parade but I'd say the chance of it happening is slim to none. Not trying to be a pessimist so please don't take this the wrong way.

Its the Environmental Impact Report that did in Fontana, which amazes me. How can you have a sound ordinance next to a steel mill with a railroad running through it and metro lines yet the race track is the one that has to be shut down? I bet the NASCAR boys dont have to worry about a noise ordinance.

there is a DIRT track in Perris, right by the Lake,
its been there for many yrs, the noise is noticeable from 10 miles away,
I realize this is not where the drags strip is intended, but the noise has not been a subject of complaint.
where the strip is intended, is alot of open land, and industry, very few housing tracks.
so it might have a chance,
you might want to contact Riverside Co sheriff's ask for there support, and see if they can
add some influence to the county supervisors. its worth a try!
