I had to replace the stock uppipe. Flex joint developed a lovely crack in the accordion pleats. I bought a Poston's stainless piece. The turbo "puck" or inlet adapter looks to be deleted but the new piece does not drop right in perfect. Seems to be slightly off. I am leary of pulling the flanges down tight for fear that I might break a turbo mount. No instructions with the peplacement uppipe of course. Anybody put one of these on without breaking something?

Thanks for the reply. I can't open your pics. I thought I had read that thread before. In the process of adapting it up. "puck" will not fit. New pipe to turbo flange is not tapered to fit the "puck". It still appears to need an spacer to prevent the breakage problem mentioned in you old thread. I have fabricated the spacer out of the old flange from the stock uppipe. That was fun grinding by hand without the benefit of a mill. Also, agasket was required to fisk the leak between the manifold and uppipe. Fired her up and only pinhole leak from off my homemade spacer. I will double the gasket there when she cools down. I will let you know how it works out. I did not know that proper gaskets and instructions were not supplied with the part. AM

I did get to see your pic 2. I used 3 NAPA match em up gaskets, my home made wedge and a federal mogul exhaust gasket between the header and uppipe. No leaks while setting in the garage. Shake down cruise in the daylight tomorrow. I have part numbers and can supply pics if anyboby wants a look. I believe that the stock pipe is much more forgiving of the differences between any two motors. I think I now know why GM put that flex join in the pipe ( I did not know it was there until I cut the braided wire and heat shielding off the stocker). I bet lots of folks will have to do some tweaking if they need to switch out the stocker. AM

Glad you got it straightened out. Get them pics up when you get a chance. My pics should work. Maybe the server was down when you tried, they worked for me.
