Powdercoating GN bumpers?

Anybody ever had their bumpers powdercoated? I am having my car painted now.... thinking I might try and get the bumpers powdercoated..... I am told it will hold up nicely to the bugs that typically chip the paint away from bumpers...... my painted bumpers on my old '89 S10 Blazer lasted only a year or two before they started looking ragged.... 5 years later.... bumper looked like it was shot with birdshot......

I really don't want that....

What color do you ask for?

I've been running powder coated bumpers on my GN going on maybe 15 years now. I had the same problem. I would paint the bumpers only to have them chip. It seemed like annual ritual for me. For what it cost me in paint and supplies I was able to have them coated. Just ask for gloss black. IMO black is black. They do have a couple of finishes available now like semi-satin and flat. Just tell them they are going on a GN and I bet the shop will know what the correct finish you want is.

If it helps any, I have all my items powdercoated in black pearl, which is 70% gloss. I would probably go with a gloss for bumpers (>70%)

Got them done in gloss black..... so far I like them......

Thanks.... I am probably as happy or maybe happier with the bumpers than I am on the rest of the car.....They turned out great. Hopefully they will last alot longer than painted bumpers before they start looking rough.

I had my front bumper powder coated last year and the bottom middle area is starting to rust. I need to take it back and see what they will do about it.
