I've been trying endlessly to find the correct antenna mast for my TTA...appearently they are different than any other car on the planet. Ordered p/n 22048583 which was supposed to fit all 82-92 models... It doesn't. The p/n on the mast tube itself is 22143457 while my original is 22071736.

So, I'm wondering if the Buick power antenna has this 2-bolt tab sticking out on it like shown in this pic of my original side by side with the 22048583 part... I thought I could swap out the antenna itself and put it in the old mast tube...that won't work either as the diameter of the base section of the antenna is a different size too as shown in pic!!

I just recently repaired my 87 GN antenna by fixing and splicing the nylon cable back onto the antenna. I was going to replace the mast and the part #22143457 you have would be the correct one. It maybe your TTA antenna mounting is different than the GN mounting location, and maybe you can send back the part #22143457 with this photo showing the correct part #22071736 you need.

OK, so on the GN, the motor actually bolts to the body rather than the mast tube like on the TTA.
Yeah, I just repaired mine replacing the nylon cable with a 3/32" steel cable from Home depot, works great on my other car and it will never break again...but my other TTA has the chrome antenna broken.
FYI, here's a post on repairing it with the cable incase the nylon breaks again.

Thanks for the fix it info
Now, I went to the fix it site you provided and I do understand where your mast has a double bolt set up, where as the GN has a bracket with four small sheet metal screw attached to the mast and then has one sheet metal screw mounted on the inside of the passenger fender. If you look at the inserted picture you will see the single hole bracket that is screw onto the four holes of the part #22143457
Also HWYStar has the bracket I'm talking about. http://www.nos4gn.com/servlet/the-618/Buick-Grand-National-22038589/Detail

Ok, on this new mast tube, I see a set of 4 holes in a square pattern on each side of the tube, I take it this is where your single hole tab connects to....On my original the tab was part of the mast tube that was simply bent backward when it was made rather than a separate bracket screwed to it... I suppose I could fabricate a tab to screw to the side of it there if I can't find an original.
Thank you so much for the information.
