Wondering on the power gains from the cat back hooker dual setup that is very popular in the GN community.

The flowmaster claims dyno tested improvements and thiers is axle back w/2.25 pipe the hooker has to be much better and I am going with it ...but was wondering if some people have some known rear wheel horses improvent with it ????

Thanx

nasty, i purchased my Hooker cat back system over ten years ago when they were first introduced at the nats. I believe i paid about $208 plus shipping from Ken Duttweiler in CA. When installed and everything else the same i gained about 2 psi on my Autometer boost guage. A little drone around 2000 rpm but not bad and a bad@ss exhaust note the rest of the time. Let the flams begin...lol.....Carter.....ps: still using them.

I've noticed people saying they've gained PSI from certain mods...
Does this mean that you safely gained 2PSI from the exhaust upgrade.
i.e. say your boost is set at 10psi because at any higher setting there is knock...
after the exhaust upgrade you would be at 12psi, but would it still knock??

sorry if its a stupid question...i've just always wondered that...

Boosty, in my situation it relieved back pressure allowing the motor to breathe easier as i understand it. I think the 2psi gain was the same as turning your boost up without making your turbo work any harder. Another words less heat from compressing the air but you need to have done something to allow an increase in boost or else turn it down. If this is flawed in any way please chime in.....Carter

strictly an educated guess here but Id say a Hooker cat back could give you 20 hp over the stock exhaust, all else being equal
