It is very hard to diagnose a problem that without actually being there to see the whole equation. I have installed many many plates and can tell you that the plate does not by itself increase boost pressure. The plate install might.:)

About the detonation problem, what might be happening is you have a weak injector and without the power plate the air flow going to that cylinder is also low and matches the injector output. After the plate install, the cylinders are all receiving equal amounts of air making the cylinder with the weak injector lean.

Hope this helps.

Jason....I called and talked to you about this today/yesterday and what you wrote is what you told me. I actually put the plate back on tonight and it worked great! I think the problem was the vacuum lines that go to the vacuum block were not sealing. Those rubber connector hoses that connect the metal lines to the vacuum block were allowing blowby. Those hoses were old and cracked years ago so I took some obscure rubber hoses and widdled them down to fit. The fit was too tight between the hoses and didn't allow a good seal. I took off the hoses and knifed them down so I could slip some plastic zip ties on all of them so that there was a good seal and there you go. I guess I can't really say for sure that's what it was since I did this while at the same time putting the plate back on, but I feel pretty confident that the plate just exposed a problem that has been there, it just needed the different air flow to make it happen. I am really curious about my boost increase problem that I have at the track. When my converter locks up it increases my boost by about 5 lbs. I wonder if sealing those vacuum lines may help that....we'll see. Thanks for all the help and suggestions....Brian

I installed my plate at reynolds this year,I ran the car all day friday and got a best of 13.041 at 105mph with a thrasher 108 at 22 psi of boost, the next day I made a single pass at 13.08 at 104 mph no changes from the day before.Went to the vender booth bought and installed my plate took it to the track ,launched and half way down the track my boost jumped to over 25psi and the knock gauge went to the red.I got back to the pits turned my boost down till I got it back to 22psi.I never did better than 13.3 at 100mph the rest of the weekend.I would have to say the plate slowed me down.Did not notice any decrease in knock on the street.I have left the plate in for now but will soon try and experiment at gainsville by running the car 3 passes with the plate and then taking it out and see if times and speed increase.I think I just got a freak car things that make other peoples cars go faster seem to do nothing for me(test pipe.power plate, larger injectors, cold air,)I have noticed little gain with all this stuff, maybe my car runs so good that it is hard to tell with a bolt on that it has gotten better.:) I wish.any body has some feedback on this lemme know.My car runs great so I am not bichenabout the plate ,I just though it would help more that it did.The day I was running right at 13's I figured the plate might give me that tenth or so to get to the 12's....It did not.

also if i find that ihave a weak injector or some other problem that was exposed by installing the plate I will jump on the wagon of praising the plate:D
