I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I had a power steering leak somewhere near the pump. I looked at the 2 hoses going to it and they were dry. I just wiped the pump off from underneath the car and I noticed a very small round hole on the bottom of the pump. Is there a weep hole on these things similiar to a water pump?

I plan on replacing it, I assume they aren't turbo specific and you can get these at the local parts store, right?

I just thought this might help someone else in the future since I haven't seen a post from anyone with this problem before......lucky me! :D

I am fixing (hopefully) a leak on my PS pump. I am pretty sure it is coming out the flow control valve. There is an o-ring on the valve which fits the bore of the pump body. I am going to try that because everywhere else it was dry.
The o-ring I got from GM, it is .588 ID.

Hope this helps.

Well the pump is out and yes, there is a weep hole on it. Apparently a seal has gone bad. For the record, the pump I bought at Discount Auto is for some other animal besides the TR.

Yes they are turbo specific. Telling the counter guy that the car has a 1986 V-6 turbo engine isn't enough information. Tell them that your engine code is "7". Discount Auto can order the pump (part # 20-877) for $75.99 + $50.00 core charge if you choose to keep your old pump. Borrowing their pulley puller was a big help as my gear puller didn't get the job done.

(not only do I help others by posting answers to their questions, I post answers to my own questions..........)

Hopefully this post will help someone in the future.
