Power to manual steering box issues

So I pick up a manual steering box and reading from a lot of people on here it is was an easy 20 min swap...well, I get mine bolted up and the stock steering shaft is about 3-4" to short???? No one mentioned a steering shaft issue in any post, some a pitman arm. But mine is the S 10 7843962 four bolt, any ideas???

first off ..thats not a stock shaft , its a jeep intermediate shaft
second ....the shaft should be extendable ..if yours doesn't slide in and out it could be jammed up
