Sorry for asking simple questions but I'm in the process of upgrading from Direct Scan to Powerlogger and I want to know these things before buying the wrong stuff. I have gone from Turbo Tune (is that what it was called) to 16 pos thumbwheel chip (adjustable and savable) to Direct Scan to Turbo Tweak chip and now to PL.

I have a regular Turbo Tweak alky chip about 9 months old. Got it when I upgraded from SMC to Julios Alky kit.
This is a 99.95 % street car but I want to see what it will do at the track but mainly learn what adjustments it needs to run better.

Question - lets say you make some runs and see parameters that need tweaking so you do that on the computer?? Where do the changes go? Are they permanent or go away if you turn off the computer?

What if you find a new set of parameters that make a great difference in how the car runs and you want to make them your default. How do you permanently apply them? Have TT burn a new chip?

Don't want to spend tons of $$ since this won't be a continual thing.

Any explanations appreciated.

You can enter them through the data tab of your Power Logger Console. Key on, engine off. You can also use the gas pedal method which is in your Turbo Tweak chip instructions. The settings revert to default once you lose battery power to your ECM. The only way to make them permanent is to have them burned into the chip.

Here is the 5.7 TT chip instructions, the last page has the info you are looking for.

Damn, that gas pedal procedure brings back memories. Thanks a bunch, one last question (for now). Is the 5.7 a standard TT chip or one of the new expensive TT chips.
Thanks again. The mud is starting to clear.

The 5.7 is a standard chip.
Most will buy the 6.1 if using it with a PowerLogger.
The 5.7 you do the pedal dance. The 6.1 you change your settings in the PL.

That's good to know. I'm still doing the pedal dance to change settings. Think it's about time to set up to latest technology.

This is what is nice about the sd2 chip.....You can create a tune and save the file to your computer and upload it to your Powerlogger....Don't matter if you lose power to the battery or not...Have one for the track one for the street etc...That chip is like having a an engine management system on your car so much you can do with it!!
