Recently had a powerlogger installed and scanmaster works great. Saved files from disc to computer, go to hook up the usb and the two start to communicate went thru the process once but did not finish the necessary install. Have tried to restart and will not work. Have uninstalled all PL programs and reinstalled on my computer and it is still not working. Any ideas PL screen keeps saying not connected.

Check to see if you see a usb serial port in device manager under ports. If its there delete it then try to reinstall the powerlogger and drivers.

specifically, with the cable plugged in and the key on, look in the "ports" section for the PowerLogger. If its there, make note of what port (COM) number is assigned.

Set the PLC program to this port on the F3 page.

Then, to connect you press F8 or clock the "connect" button.

OK i went in to the f3 screen and plugged changed the port number to #3 no error, it had given an error in every other port. I hit f8 at the bottom of screen to the left it says "Not connected" to the right it says Monitoring??? I am clueless, any ideas??

If a driver is still missing you will have this problem. Go to your device manager and check for missing driver. Make sure the pl is plugged in to the laptop.

Loaded PL software on my old laptop no problems 1st time out. Thanks for all the help guys especially TurboBuRick.

Glad to hear it's working on a older laptop.

There are guy's running PL on vista so it can be done.

Maybe TurboBob can shed some light. ;)

i did,

he has a driver issue. Probably fixable in device manager.

there should be 2 entries in device manager for the powerlogger , one in the USB section, and one in the ports section. Perhaps he can post a pic of the device manager page.

He can try right clicking the .INF files in the PowerLogger/Drivers folder and see if XP will let him install that way. I know Vista doesn't like doing that but XP should be ok.

We have PL's running with every OS from 98SE to Vista64. So it just takes some tweaking on some computers.

Bob

I had a similar issue when trying to get PL to run on my new vista machine.

I subsequently found that there is a very specific drivers folder that needs to be there for it to work.

I don't recall where I found it (Bob pointed me in the right direction), but it's the drivers folder with ALL the files with a 2008 date.
