IS the powerlogger simply a scanner or can changes be made to the tune? If so, can you use the adjustable TT chips or do you need something special?

I have experience HP Tuners. You could run the scanner, copy and paste the numbers into the tune and flash the computer. I have this feeling it's a little different with the Buick. Do you have to take the numbers from the scan and change the chips fueling with the gas pedal?

Can someone point me in the direction of some good reading material?

I never logged once with the powerlogger that i just sent you but i did change chip with scanmaster and pedal.

I sent the 6.0 chip and other was 5.6

You need either the TT 5.7 or 6.1 chips to be able to change the BLM cells with the Powerlogger. Or one of the newer extender chips

The 6.0 chip will track the a/f ratio with the wideband. The 6.1 allows you to adjust the a/f ratio to track in the BLM grid in the powerlogger rather than pushing the gas pedal to adjust that parameter.
