the update procedure uses the com port thats selected on the F3 page.
switch to the F3 page, check the Automatic checkbox for the COM port and then connect (F8). This will find the COM port.
Then use ESC to disconnect, and try the update procedure again.

Ok... Here's a stupid question... Does the laptop need to be hooked up to the ecm for this? The automatic checkbox was already "checked".

um, yup.
The PL gets its power from the ECM. So everything needs to be plugged in and turned on.

Bob, What is the flashpl20.exe executable used for.
The flashpl20.exe is the file that needs to be in your powerlogger folder. It's the file that is used when you hit the Reflash PL button on the f1 screen of your PLC.
To successfully reflash the PL, you'll need that file and the latest .s19 file in your powerlogger folder, I think the latest is PL024d.s19

I got it... Disregard the above, I had to "un-zip" the file first.
I take it I can delete the old version off the laptop...?

They don't take up much room. I leave all mine in the folder.
What do I need to determine the factors for the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear CS input amounts?

I didn't put anything in the 2nd gear field because I just haven't had time to fiddle with it, besides, who cares about CS in 2nd?
I don't remember where my original start values were (not far off) but I have
3rd gear set to 46.5
4th gear set to 31.00
To get them set accurately you'll need to have some confidence that your locked tcc isn't slipping under normal cruise conditions.
Also a manual lock switch comes in handy
Drive around in 3rd gear, lock the tcc and fiddle with the values until CS reads 0.0 or very close. It'll bounce around + or - several 10ths
Then do the same in 4th gear.
