I can't seem to get the powerlogger working on my new Alienware netbook it's giving me an error

Device "Com1" Open Error!!! The System Can Not Find The File Specified.

I've tried reflashing it but it gave me this message while doing that
Programming PL030.s19 on port Com1

Waiting for Powerlogger to respond....
Warning: can not get default comm config (COM1)

Can't open serial port COM1

I've tried all three of the usb ports with no luck I even made sure their working properly by checking them in device manager. Device manager is telling me that it can't find or doesn't have the proper drivers. I've tried to manually update them and let windows but have had no luck. I'm sure it's something simple that I'm doing wrong can someone help me please. The fullthrottle board seems to be down right now.

Sounds like you're trying to run FlashPL20 dot exe, instead of PLC dot exe.

most likely its trying to use the wrong port.

check the device manager to see if the powerlogger port is there (you need to be plugged into the PL with the key on). If not then the drivers are not installed.

Getting the port to appear is the first step.

Is there at least an 'unknown device' or something showing in device manager?

open up the attached zip file and put the Drivers folder in your PLC folder.

Then update the drivers in device manager if you don't get the 'found new hardware' wizard popping up in windoze.

What version of Windoze BTW?

I'm runnning Wiondows 7 with an Intel Processor. Here is a screen grab of what device manager is seeing. It sees the PowerLogger it just won't update the drivers and it won't manually let me. I'll try it with the new drivers that Bob posted after dinner tonight and let you know. Bob could you post the most current version of PL for me just incase this one was corrupted when moving files from my old laptop?

Still no luck I've replaced the drivers and the version of PL I was using which was 1.4. Out of any of my usb ports it gives me the same error. I'll try again tomorrow I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking but I can't figure it out.

Its certainly a driver issue.

If you still can't get it going, perhaps I can call you and work it thru with you.

Bob I would appreciate that I'll pm my phone number call me when ever. Your message box is full let me know when I can pm you my number.

pm me an email address also, as that is easier, and we can work on a few details first.

Bob

(just cleared some space in my PMs)

Bob thanks for the 1 on 1 tech support I kept saying it was something simple that I was overlooking or doing wrong. Thanks again.

Widows wasn't recognizing the drivers and when I was manually telling it where the drivers were I was directing it into the drivers sub folders not the drivers top folder. So technically I was the problem. Bob emailed me a specific step by step and I figured out what I was doing wrong.
