In looking to find one I keep getting asked if I need one off a truck that was with or without cayalytic converter.

Which one is it?

do a search for ps ic i think there are a couple of guys that list part numbers of everything they used. Also there are two versions plastic end tanks and all aluminum version. personally i would think the all aluminum version would be the way to go but thats just me. HTH

Have you asked if the part numbers are different between the two?

Personally, I have no idea why that would make a difference except that maybe the one without the converter may flow better.

I knew about plastic and aluminum. I did a search and couldn't find any data about the converter. When I called the dealer they said there were 2 different part #'s, but he may not have known what he was doing.

Also on car-parts.com it asks for with or without cat.

Thanks for the replies.

I work for a Chevy dealership, but the owner also owns a ford dealership. I talked to one of the parts guys at ford. He told me that there were the ones with and without cats also, but he got to looking, and one of the part numbers was changed, so that they all use the same one for replacement now. Also, you can only buy the plastic end tanked ones new from the dealer now.

question on mounting the powerstroke ic

what kind of mods does it take to mount 1 of those things?

Get one for a 2001 model ford. I would think these would have cats from the factory.

Aluminum end tank models cannot be purchased from the dealer anymore and have been replaced by the composite end tanks i believe. Mine has composite tanks.

The comp. unit can hold up to over 30psi so no worries there. possibly lighter than the aluminum unit. I dont know exactly how much it weighs but i didnt think it weighed much more than the stock location unit.

the headlight holes in the core support have to be cut down and inward toward the radiator to make room for the inlet/outlet. 2.5 inch pipe doesnt require cutting your inner fenders. Cutting the header panel behind the high beams and up top is all thats left to do. Notching the frame is not necessary if you trim more out of the header panel.

Jacob- Give me an email and maybe we can meet up at Steele or something and let me take a look at your install first hand.

Thanks
