hey all,
I have a unique question on the Precision Industries converters.
Unfortunately I do not have a Grand National BUT alot of what I have done to my truck I have learned from you guys......

Basically I would like to know if Precision Industries converters are still one of your groups most popular/mosy favorite converters.....mainly for "street/strip" type applications(say less that 700 hp)??

Reason I ask is that I bought my single disc PI 9.5" lock-up back in 1997-1998 and its been a great piece. I would like to pull it out and have the stall speed increased and upgrade it to a triple disc. It will prob cost me ~$500 round trip with shipping, parts, and labor.

Are you all still running PI converters and are the triple discs holding up to your power levels/expectations?

Alright thanks everyone,
Edward

NOTE:my truck is a 1995 Ford Lightning with an E4OD electronically controlled transmission and the converter is a "Stallion 9.5"

PI is a great company with a great product. The Multi-disc's are great converters in all but AOD-E/4r70W apps. It's not the converters fault, it's the valve body builders fault {IE FB/PA} They think 100psi converter pressure is enough behind insane power.. 100psi converter pressure probably wouldn't get an old lady excited.. Sorry for the rant, i got way off course.

I had a red 95 lightning too. Great trucks!!! Care to share the Plans for the upgrades?

Mike.

thanks Mike. Well to date my best track performance is 12.4 @ 108 mph. I want to run a 12.0-12.2 and I am pretty confident that the converter will get me there.
I have been modding/racing my truck since ~1997-1998......its heavy and non-aerodynamic but fun to say the least :)

Mike I re-read your post and I actually have trans psi documentation.

At WOT I run ~200 psi,80 psi @ idle and ~150 in reverse.

I have a Performance Automatic valvebody. It has also ben in there since 1997-1998.

Along with the converter Precision sent me a spring for my front pump and directions to drill a hole in a specific location inside the pump which I did.

Yes, The converter will get you there for sure. I was saying that the P/A body for the aod-e/4r70w are suspect. Their E40D stuff is good. They probably gave you a pressure regulator spring and directions to drill the converter lock up orifice plug to say .110-.125.

Good luck with the truck it sounds like a monster!!!

I'll always be a Gen 1 guy!!!!
