pressure guage tap

I just scored a killer dash mount trans pressure guage here at work for free, 0-450psi 270 degree sweep with 250psi about in the middle. Was wondering if someone could share which pressure tap to connect this to on the tranny and provide either a very good description of where its located or a picture (i'm a visual person) of what to hook it to. And next Q, does it have the capacity to measure the pressure (don't want it to blow up inside the car)?
Or do I even need a guage in the car at all times. I have one of Bruce's super pumps and Extreme convertors. Intentions are to race hard with maybe a few trips to town ( 'bout 5 mi.) on Saturday night. TIA -Chuck

The line pressure tap is an 1/8" pipe plug which usally has a 7/16" hex head on it for removal and is located on the d/s just above where the shift linkage shaft goes into the trans, it is the only plug on that side of trans. 450psi is plenty high enough to be safe and it's always nice to know what the tranny pressure is doing exspeically if your having a probem.

Not having any problems yet, just got everything back together and figured pressure would be a good thing to monitor, along with temp. I hope it will (even gradually) let me know about when something is gonna go wrong. Have tranny pressure guage on the forklift at work, you can tell when the needle starts vibrating like crazy at 150 psi it needs more fluid (it has a chronic leak). It otherwise runs and drives fine since its not under too much load, but still. I don't plan to use mine as a fluid level indicator, just another indicator to tell health of the trans. -Chuck
