HAHAHAHAHAHA

I just saw this thread after I posted on the poll thread.

Simply.. the penaly was too harsh. As someone said before, I'm sure there is more to this then we all no. If not, then the penalty was too harsh.

Now, what I'm LAUGHING at is the posts made in here. THE NAZIS ARE COMING, THE NAZIS ARE COMING!!!!:D If you hate the gov't THAT bad... why don't you leave?? Every post seems to be a PROOF that the NAZIS ARE COMING and BIG BROTHER WILL OWN YOU!!! This is not a case of the nazis coming, this is a case of a judge made a bad call. We are all human, we all make mistakes and it's clear (if this is all true) that the judge did make a bad call. That is why we have an appeals process. I'm sure this 'poor' girl won't go to jail.

*SIGH*

Everyone's entitled and it's always good for a laugh I suppose.

"Love it or leave it" ius not meant for right-wingers, it's meant for liberals. That line is a joke anyway. Where is there to go that's better? Iceland? Wanting to bring back the America our Founding Fathers wanted us to have is very pro-American indeed. So, people who support the current America are the ones who should leave.

If what the article said, was all there is to that case, then the punishment seems a little harsh but I have a hard time believing that a judge would impose such a penalty for these funny, stupid looking lights. Therefore, like some said, there must be more to this case and I'm sure the attitude inside the courtroom had something to do with it.
If this conclusion is right then I really don't think it is a big deal! 24 hours in jail for letting this kid grow up with a sense of reality and teaching her what law and respect is all about because apparently the parents weren't able to do so. Maybe if some more traffis offenders would smell some prison air overnight, streets would be safer these days :D

Ter... little paranoid, aren't you?

When young girls are facing jail time for putting two blue "nose fins" on their car, we ALL have a reason to be paranoid. Whether or not you believe it, the story says that's all she did. Face it, the government is out of control. You may want traffic offenders in jail now, but you'll be crying when they come for YOU.

Reading is a gift, Ter

Well, read what I wrote, Ter. I said that I don't believe such a penalty was imposed for these funny looking lights as the sole reason but because of this nice good girl copping an attitude inside the court room! Even though the article didn't say so, since when is the press reliable and since when should we not use our brains while reading?
I don't totally disagree that there is a line that the government shouldn't cross but putting fingerprints on driving licence, letting traffic offenders spend a night in prison and so forth seems allright with me and I'm not scared that they will come after me because I DON'T do anything wrong and I stick to the laws the PEOPLE made by electing representatives!
I don't know what happened in your past that makes you so paranoid but I just can't see things your way!

Nothing at all happened in my past. I just am well studied on the right side of politics. When I was in the 6th grade I vowed to quit school if they ever fingerprinted kids. Thankfully, they never did, but it's coming. Lots of bad things are coming. 10 yoears ago no one would have though that such a wonderful thing like cell phones would be illegal to use while driving, but here in NY they are.

Why do you think letting traffic offenders spend a night in prison is good? That insane. Last night I set the cruise control at 70 while the speed limit was 65. Should I have spent the night in jail?

Well, if you behave in court like you do here than maybe you should go to jail for a day but I will not be so self righteous to pass a judgement on you and your political views. I just don't think that your so-called right wing attitude has anything to do with freedom and individual rights, quite the opposite! I believe that laws should be enforced in order to protect the individual rights of many- not of few.
I believe that there is something more to the case than what the press told us and I have a hard time believing that a judge would impose such a harsh penalty otherwise but I already said that.

My statement about letting traffic offenders spend a night in jail was provocative but I believe in what I said, some people out there need to realize that there are not out there alone and that they need to obey the rules of society in order to be a part of it. If you don't like the laws about blue lights, move into a different state, if you don't like the speed limits move to Germany but stop complaining if you get caught breaking the rules! If you don't break the rules, you won't be bothered, real simple! That's what I call freedom! People make laws and the authorities enforce them!

I'm more about freedom than you can ever possibly imagine. Does this look like someone who opposes freedom:

If I were in charge...

There wouldn't be a law to banning tinted windows. It would be up to the owner.

There wouldn't be a law forcing bars to ban smoking. It would be up to the owner.

There wouldn't be a six month waiting period for buying a handgun (like here in NYC) where they even check your credit. All honest Americans would be able to get one instantly.

They wouldn't be able to search you unless they had a warrant that proved beyond reasonable doubt you were in need to be searched.

I could go on, but you get the idea. As for and being against the speed limit, my question went unanswered. I said I set the cruise control at 70 in a 65. Should I have spent the night in jail? If not, than what traffic violators do you think should? It's proven that everyone goes above the speed limit or breaks some minor traffic law. There aren't enough jails in the world to hold all drivers.

So in short what you are saying is that you have tinted windows, a smoker, and am unable to purchase a gun, and some cop may have found your stash?

Sorry Ter..Had to say it..:D

what gives you the idea that the people make the laws? we have a choice to vote for one of the two candidates - neither of which can run for office without major bucks behind them- their votes are dictated by their contributions- when a senator or representative moves out of office he is replaced by a similar individual-- how am i making the laws in my state ? - i certainly would not outlaw those little blue lights - they in no way shape or form look like any type of lights on any police vehicle in the country- would i have them on my car - no--- i dont know what kind of life you lead, but it must be inside a cardboard box if you are not offended by the laws that take our personal freedom and choices away from us

Ter..
read what I wrote , I said that I believe that there is more to this story than what we were told if you get stopped by the police for speeding the other night and you give the police man lip or spill your Anti-Law and Order attitide on the judge and call him an ignorant fascist, then maybe the answer is yes! Do I think that doing 70 mph is bad enough to let you spend a night in prison NO, just like I don't agree with the girl's case IF the lights were REALLY the only reason for the verdict.

sr71-
well, I don't live in a box and have seen a couple of things in this world and I said earlier that I agree that there is a line that the government should not cross and there will be a point where I will stand up and fight for my rights but putting fingerprints on my driver's license, waiting 6 month for a gun, etc just doesn't do it. I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE and no sympathy for people whining when they get caught breaking the rules. Of course, I have broken the speed limit before and I paid a nasty fine, too but I'm not whining!
That's all I have to say to you guys.

You or anyone can put those lights on your car, and there isn't a law against owning or selling them. You just can't have them ON while driving on a PUBLIC road. Put your car in a parking lot or car show then turn'em on. What rights have been taken away? Go to your local Autozone and buy a dozen blue lights and stick'em on your car anywhere you please.....it's a free country....geezus.

Too many people say I own the roads inseated of we the people own the roads. This means regulation and standards for the good of all who use our roads. A lot of people are confusing their car with public roads. Dress up your car however you wish, tint, lights, cover your license plate or heck don't even put one on. Just don't drive on public roads in that manner. Is this concept so hard to understand?
