i recently removed and installed headgaskets with the engine in car. my first time ever doing such a job. so now i got to prime engine, also a first. my question is, can i just mark the cam sensor before i pull it and put it back in the same position after priming? or will i have to go through the whole procedure of setting a cam sensor (which ive never done as well)?

as if changing my head gaskets wasnt intimidating enough, i dont know why im so timid to mess with the cam sensor.

You should be able to just mark where the ear of the cam sensor is at on the timing cover or water pump. Then mark where the Window is on the cam sensor. Then line them up when you put it back in.
I think I'm right on this someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

That’s exactly what I did. I also checked it with a volt meter to be sure. But it was fine.

The tool by Caspers Electronics makes the setting of a cam sensor a real easy job.

I bought the cam sensor tool from Caspers and it did work just great.
I had to put a new one in.

yea id definitely use a caspers tool on a new cam sensor, but if its not needed on something like this, then i wont get it. if just marking it for now will work, i'll stick with that for the moment.

Good thing about the Caspers tool (not so much in your case) is that you can do it on the engine stand as they have a battery in them. very handy!
