I never said I didnt like the military! My frustration is with the way the administration is treating the military. They have put them in harms way and tied their hands behind their backs. There arent enough troops to protect themselves. They have been put in an environment where they have become targets and political fodder. Bush's administration has really screwed up! A general should be running the military, not a political party! You cant seem to separate political rhetoric from reality! Yes, we need to deal with terrorism! But not by invading every country in the middle east. We have the most sophisticated military in the world and we are not using the proper resources. If a country is supporting terrorism we can very easily make them pay a heavy price without invading! Airpower, ie: stealth aircraft can decimate targets with minimal loss to our troops. We can batter any middle eastern country and take out key targets without involving ground troops and 100's of billions of dollars. WE are not nation builders and shouldnt even be trying..Too high a cost in lives and resources. Make the bastards pay, but not at the cost of good soldiers lives.

I care about our troops, not the bastards in power!

For the first time.....I agree with you! Officer, enlisted, civilian....Find the truth and enforce the articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (or appropriate civil authority). I want no No favoritism or prejudments. Just find the facts and enforce the UCMJ. End of story.

Remember too that the military system worked as designed: The actions of these 7 people were reported by a military member and followed up by competent authority. The military doesn't need, and is not influenced by, the political antics in front of congressional or Senatorial commitees. They will follow the law and make appropriate findings because they are, for the most part, honorable people. They search always to separate those who refuse to measure up to their high standards.

How true...........too bad the LEFT doesn't get it. What's another three thousand, or maybe next time, 100,000. Do you think it will make any difference to them? It's more important for them just to be in power. The country be damned. If they achieve power, they can send their apology, kiss a$$ commitee to the UN. If they get real aggressive, they can shoot a couple missles at an aspirin factory. One of the main reasons we're having problems over there is because the left is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. How do you know that anybody is a scapegoat? With 27 years in the military, I speak from first hand experience in these matters.

Having performed a number of investigations for the military during my long career, I have confidence that the truth will come out. I will accept the result of the military investigation and military justice system because they are dedicated to finding the truth and enforcing the UCMJ. The military system is only interested in the facts. It operates in an apolitical environment. That is a good thing.

How do you know they were acting under lawful orders? An interview on CNN isn't enough to sway me about this. The upcoming Courts martial will be open for all to see....We'll know the truth then, and only then. Don't expect scapegoating.

If this is true then why are troops stationed around cities under siege allowing supplies to be brought in, why is al-Sadr still running free? Why......................POLITICS.
When we first invaded Iraq, the military was in charge. Now that we are occupying, the administration is running this police action.
Thats why this occupation will fail...Rumsfeld wont bring in any more troops which will cause this action to continue for a long long time. More troops are needed to shut down the Iranian and Syrian boarders. More troops are needed to quell the troublemakers in the cities. Will it happen, no! This leaves our troops open to terrorist attacks and will allow the body count to increase day by day. Rumsfeld's strategy is to use a small, technologically superior force to enforce the peace. In the initial phase this was logical....quick strike! A police action requires a large commitment of troops to function at a safe level. If Rumsfeld has to bring in more troops it will dispell his whole strategy...He wont do it. I hope bushbaby dumps his as*.
