Yup. Took about 9 months for them to settle it out. Cost a little over a grand for the lawyer.

so did anyone contest the will? I will be going through this shortly. I am pretty sure little sister thinks she should get every thing. I just want to follow the folks wishes.

No, no one contested it. My Mom had money come back to her estate after she passed. Everything else we had done as transfer on death or we were set as benificiaries but this return of deposit came back to estate. We should have had it written to be disembursed to my sister and me but when we were signing the paperwork we forgot that aspect of that money. The nursing home didn't make it clear we had a choice either.

My wife's five siblings had to go through that. Took two years but fortunately they are from a very, very small town in Iowa so court costs were almost non existent and the lawyer was a family friend. The brother who had power of attorney while mom was in the nursing home stole $$$$, then wanted his full cut and held everything up until the siblings finally agreed.

To all you make sure everything is accounted for and have accountability partners set up before anyone has power of attorney.
