I am rebuilding my 3.8. I got it back from the machine shop and I am trying to put in the rear main bearing and it wont go in. It is not wide enough to go down into the recess or into the bearing cap. The litle tit on the bottom bearing dosen't line upwith the recess in the cap too. I checked the bearing # 's and the seem correct. MB 2434P .
What could be wrong, I don't think that I should drive them down with a hammer to get them in??? I have photo's if it will help

I just looked at your pictures and that is the thrust bearing. It goes on the second main from the front. You can tell it is the thrust by the notches cut in the sides of the bearings for oiling the thrust. I would imagine the rear main is in the thrust:eek: :D

I don't know what area you are from but I would ask for some help from someone on here from that area that has put one of these together or you may have other things out of place, etc... that will take your motor out. They aren't rocket science but they do require detail.

Jesse has straightened me out. Thanks. I will be probably posting more as this goes on.:)
