i hear a little raddling noise right behind the pulley of the s/c....i believe thats where the noise is coming from......sounds like worn out bearings......could it be the alternator?....the car will stumble and wants to die out....this is all at idle....97 Regal GS (all stock)

i don't think the s/c oil has been added or changed....i also have about 60.5k miles on the engine.

There is a connector or something that goes out and makes that noise. But no matter what check that SC oil! All it takes is an allen wrench and an $8 bottle of supercharger oil from the dealer.

wut connector?

and how do i change the s/c oil....do i have to drain it and add or just add?

i am new to this stuff.:D

use a turkey baster or a pump from a bottle of hand soap to suck out the old oil.Warning-it is the nastiest smelling stuff you will ever come across.Refill to the top and replace the allen screw. You can get the oil at any gm dealership. Pontiac and buick will probably have it in stock. It costs about $10.

Sounds like rocks rolling around? Your nose drive is going. Get another one. A couple of places rebuild them now. About $400 last time I looked.

yes, thats wut it sounds like....like broke bearings or something...the car still runs.

would a dealership rebuild it?

There's a coupler in there that connects the drive to the rotor gears. It wears and you get slop in the joint. Normal after 75k miles. It usually just gets so bad you fix it. One guy did get rotor lock but I think a gear failed (very rare).

It's not unusual for the SC to be noisy when you first start the car cold (especially through the TB), but when it doesn't quiet donw it's time for a new nose drive.

The dealers will just want to get a rebuild blower from Magnusen Products in SoCal (authorized Eaton rebuilder) and bolt it on. Some dealers *might* do only the nose drive but not many. The rebuilt M62 around $1200. Go to: www.eaton.com , find the Magnusen info and call them.

if u get rotor locked, would the car shut off on u b/c thats wut it did to me in the middle of traffic:mad:

It might but then I don't understand your sentence.

Rotor lock usually burns the belt or breaks it.
