Darn it!! My bad. Please strike my comments from the record!

I am going to go look for my son's georgraphy book now...

ok lets start with my list of mods, bought car with fully built engine forged bottom end and built heads, but the guy left stock turbo on. then wiring was a nightmare since the car was half gutted came with all parts, just not on it. then i drove it finally and it just kept overheating almost, it would hit 215 id shut it down since it would continue to climb. all gaskets leak. the built trans is tough, but of course no one ever tightened torque converter until i did. car was "freshly painted" im guessing that was custom work done by helen keller in a sandstorm. he upgraded the injectors to 36lb and stock chip, i swear its issue after issue, now the intake manifold has to come off due to some amazing vacuum leaks, ugh i wanted a gn all my life and now im rethinking that decision hundreds of man hours and ten grand later

he had 12000 in upgrades and parts i only paid 6500 for car but i just wonder are all these such a pain or is it just the backyard do it yourself rocket scientist i bought this from?

You answered your own question. Or he De-tuned it and put all the "crap" parts back on before he sold it.

No offense, but you bought a project car so now you have project car headaches...It wouldn't have matter what kind of car it was if you buy someone elses project you run into issues.

Sorry man but I had to laugh. That is one of the best lines ever,

Hang in there. My TR's have taught me one thing. You dont get to know your car while its running good. Its sad to say but the more problems you have the more you are forced to learn about them and get things right.

You might not want to hear this but this is the route I would take.
Buy the rest of the stuff to do the intercooled conversion. Prices for parts are lower now than before because of the holidays and bad economy. Hot air trouble shooting isnt as easy to find a shop for and many people here shy away from giving advise they are close but not the same.
If your in this deep and the car is a rust free with a good body it will pay off in the end if you keep it.

I know all about buying projects just don't know how people sleep at night saying words like " put the bumpers and grille on it everything else is done you got a perfect driver" ugh

I think the problem you may run into is a car that has multiple issues will be expensive to get going at any shop. If you figure labor at 75 per hour.. as average.. you can rack in a lot of labor hours cleaning up stuff.

You married it.. now learn to step by step go after the little things. There is no majic wand for a 26 year old car thats been in many hands.

Get the conversion started to 86/87 electronics.. then do the IC setup latter. You wont find hardly any support for the 84/85 stuff. And the 84/85 is different than the 86/87.. way different. Use your search feature and read. To get the engine running right will require the chip/injectors/maf/o2/etc to work correctly.

I use to tell people, "this is your Sunday project". You want me to fix it? Fine but it's not going to be cheap.
