OK. So after 6 months of having the extra pieces I'm finally getting it done. PLEASE remember that this my first time EVER doing this and that I'm doing it with spray paint!!!!!!

I forgot to take pics of the base color so anytime you see a white part, I painted that as well. All parts started in the original color of my bike. Here's what I started with.

Here's where I'm doing my work now (I was doing it outside, but it's too cold now)

It's our second bathroom covered up. Fan always on and I wear my breather the whole time.

Taping off of my graphics that I'm putting on.

Here's the finished front fender

I'm not exactly happy with the tail. Wish I had done it with outline as well, but I'm not about to restart. Came out a bit more Native-American then I meant to, but it looks good enough for a first time!!

Here's the ALMOST finished right side saddle bag. Ends up I missed a piece of tape I was supposed to remove, so I have to fix it before I can clear coat.

Both bags

freshly finished left side bag (well...still needs a bit of touch up and clear)

I know the eagle isn't an exact match for the other bag, but I hand drew both sides so I'm happy with it. Clear on the left bag and final clear on the right bag tomorrow.

side covers and frame covers clear coat away from being done

not INTENDING to put black on those covers, but I might change my mind and do some sort of eagle related thing. Maybe a feather or something?

Side covers, frame covers, front fender, left side saddle bag all in clear. Just waiting a few days for it to settle and then will be doing a final sand on them and using a 3M rubbing compound and will be done with those parts!

Have a small hole to fill in the rear fender and then that will be in primer as well. I haven't made my final decision on what eagle design to use on my rear fender or on my tank, so if anyone has any thoughts feel free to chime in!!

For a first time and using spray paint you did VERY well man. Wish I had know you wanted it done, I would have done it for you pretty cheap. I started another job and now I am just doing stuff at my paint shop on the side. I LOVE doing bikes. Small parts and easy to work with lol. I have done several around here with diffrent stuff on them for people. They are a lot of fun to do and you can have a lot of fun airbrushing cool stuff on a bike. Daniel Ray

holy crap man thats excellent! come over here and paint my car!

Thanks! Yeah, cost is pretty much why I decided to do this on my own. What part of Georgia are you in? I am most likely gonna be in the Kingsland area in a year and will want the paint redone professionally eventually!!

looks good are you going to spray pearl over that or just clear.

I'm going with clear and a rubbing compound. Overall it is taking a LOT more paint then I expected so I couldn't go putting pearl on or anything like that. Plus I have been sticking with what I can get in automotive Duplicolor at my local Advanced. Keeps cost down (military discount and no shipping) and it is always a good idea to stick with the same maker. They didn't have any pearl there.

lol :) I have wondered what I could do with a garage, actual ventilation (to get the crap outta the air) and actual mounts to put the parts on (instead of a dinner tray, lol)!!!

Starting on rear fender.

Scuffed up, ready for primer. Note the two holes for the plate.

The fills aren't perfect, though I think that if I had put a bit more time in I might have been able to get them perfect.

What did I use to fill them, you ask???

Mighty Putty!!!!!!!

Talk about easy to use! Sanded really well also. We shall see how it holds up to the stress of the road though!

After I get home from work tonight the rear fender eagle will be taped off and possibly the black paint put down. Also the left side saddlebag will be completed with rubbing compound. Depending on what that bag looks like when done I MIGHT re-clear the right side bag and reapply the rubbing compound to it. I really think the left side is gonna be glossyer when done...pics to follow later tonight!

Well...I forgot to update this thread. That night that I posted about above the left bag did come out a bit more glossy. So I lightly sanded the right bag and re-cleared it. When I went to cut out the image on the rear fender, the white paint came off for some reason. I had to pull it all off and repaint the white on that fender. When all that happened I must admit I got a bit frustrated and stopped for a bit.

Two days ago though I got the motivation to restart (either finish now or it will have to wait until I get back from GITMO). So here are some progress pictures!!

Finally made some time for the bike paint.

Working on the fender now

Thanks...that's pretty much what I'm shooting for. Something that looks good from 3-4 feet away. when I get back from GITMO I'm going to start buying all the tools to do a proper job.

rear fender done. All that is left is too use rubbing compound on the tank, rear fender, and neck covers and put it back together!!!

ps here is a tank I repaired for a guy that layed it down and repainted it for him. Came out pretty cool and he was happy lol. Daniel

That looks sharp! Will definetly look you up when I get stationed down there soon.

Put it all back together tonight. Only KINDA done because I still have to wet sand and rubbing compound the tank and rear fender...but I just plain ran outta time. That will have to wait until either I get back from GITMO in a year or maybe I can do it real quick when I drop off the bike at my dads in Missouri.

here are some temporary pictures. I will take some better ones tomorrow in the day light.

Broken down ready to be put back together..

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out overall. There is room for improvement...that's for sure. But practice makes perfect!!!

Let me know what y'all think

(visable holes in the rear fender are for mounting the plate tomorrow)

Like I said , man for a first time AND using spray bombs it turned out really good! Your next one would be even better especially with good tools ! I hope I am still around when you get down here lol, Give me a holler when you do for sure. I am one that knows how much masking went into that and its time comsuming for sure ! I haven't done any birds though, may have to practice up on that lol. Daniel Ray

Thanks man. I dropped it off at my dads today for storage for while I'm in guantanamo bay over the next year. :( finished it just in time to store it.
