1st off I love my progressive alky system.

However, every time I take the car out it seems like the system looses pressure from sitting and common sense says this is understandable. I do hit the test button to purge the system each time I drive the car. Even doing this it seems like it take a couple stabs and boost to get the system primed enough to not knock. Of course I back out of it when I see the knock coming up on the 1st couple I make boost. But after that it is fine from there on out until I park the car again.

Is this normal? I dont remember it doing this before this year? I am running on about #3-4 on the dial. It seems like it just takes some priming to get it where I know it if working right. Is there a anti bleed back valve or something that could be faulty?

thanks,

Dennis

Dennis, The pump has a built in check valve. I think your problem is the "low setting" on the knob. 3-4 will be lazy waking up. Put the knob to like 6-7 and retry it.

You can test the check valve on the pump by unhooking hose from filter, hooking up a clear hose like from the coolant tank and filling it up with water. The water should hold in the hose without bleeding down.

There are check valves that can go on the nozzle as well. But turn the gain up.. if it gets rich.. pull some fuel out and level it off. You should be fine.

Julio,

thanks for the reply.

The car runs just fine once I have got past what I call the "priming" part. Once I have ran it a bit on alky it works perfect at the 3-4 setting. I will do the check on the valve.

Dennis no problem. See what I mean is that when you set the gain down the pump see's less voltage. If there is air in the lines it takes longer to displace. So its a 12v motor. When you put the controller down to like 3-4 it onle sends like 2.2-2.4 volts to the pump. Vs 3.5-3.7 when the knob is on lets say 7. That extra voltage zips up the pump..

You would be better served going from an M15 down to an M10 and cranking up the knob to achieve the same volume. Vs running the kit on a lower setting and having the drivability issue your experiencing.

Analogy.. trying to start car when battery is down to 10v vs 12v. It doesnt fire up as fast. its like having knob on 3-4 vs 7.

Check the check valve, but my money's on the lower setting causing the grief. This is the number one problem with cars using twin nozzle setups when they only need a single. Its too much alcohol then they turn down the controls.. next thing is lazy pump and takes time to wake the kit up. If yours has a twin nozzle.. then go back to a single or reduce the tip size to flow the same as a single.

Hope this helps,

Julio

nozzel

I have single nozzel, it would be whatever you sent in the standard kit for my GN, I bet your right.. where do I get a smaller nozzel? you know anyone that sells them? haha..
