I have a Prompaq chip switcher that accepts 4 TR chips, but it isn't working. I can't even tell which chip it's running on, and get the rapidly flashing check engine light when I turn the key to go to a different chip. Spent a lot of time installing it under the dash, but unable to use it at this time.

Anyone know anything about who to send this to for a repair? I don't know who was the guru at Adaptive Technologies, or who might be the best bet for testing and repairing it.

Thanks.

The company went out of the "Prom Pak" business back in the early/mid 90s. There were available with two different length cables. The short one worked better but the longer one would at times throw a code.
Best of memory, the number 1 chip was the first light on the left on the key switch and so forth.
Don't know of anyone to repair one.:(

John Spina at Caspers Electronics could repair it, but he may not want to, as he sells thumbwheel chips instead.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to call John at Casper's sometime soon. I had them clean my injectors, and I've purchased a few things from them in the past. Good service.

Actually that Prompaq system never really worked at all. It wasn't a cable length problem, but rather a design snafu that had to do with the chip manufacturers making the 2732 Eprom's at that time. I got pulled into a legal battle with the designer of the Prompaq a few years back...he's gone forever. Anyway, the unit won't work, or will work sporadically at best.

Look for the SEPTEMBER SALE items

I just saw one of these in a car recently..I had no documentation on which position did what but it wouldn't turn the fuel pump on in the first position. I advised the owner to chuck it and got the "But I spent good $ on that!" look in response. :)
