this sounds like a really dumb question but where is the safest and best way to place the jacks on the car if im working under the engine area ? i usually just have the floor car jack but i want to go this route now i only need the front raised thanx

the best place for me on these cars are just behind the front tires where the frame is the widest. As you look under the car you will see the frame is straight all the way down and just past the front of the door the frame curves in towards the engine. Thats your spot and it gives you plenty of elbow room when working under.

I raise in the center directly under the engine using the frame crossmember.
I then put 2 jackstands under the frame rails by the front of the doors.
I ALWAYS use jack stands and you should too.
I repeat, ALWAYS use jack stands as a safety precaution.

My preferred method isn't jack stands but ramps. I jack the car up and then slide ramps under the wheels then let it down on the ramps. NO way of falling. It doesn't give you quite the clearance underneath but that is the only way I like to do it if I'm in the garage alone.
