Proper pull strap color for 86 GN??

What is the proper door panel pull strap color for an 86 GN? Mine came with black and I have no reason to believe they aren't original. I've seen some 86's with black and some with grey. I'm starting to think Buick threw whatever they had in the parts bin on these cars. Thanks.

i have a 86 gn that has the black pull straps. i bought the 86gn from the original owner .........

According to Kirban's literature about the GNs.......the 86's had grey covers and the 87's had black. Chris

The correct color of the pull straps for 1986 is black. Its also black for the 1985 GN. Its is gray for the 1987.

Its easy to tell what year of GN just by looking at the interior, more specifacally the doors and seats. The color of the plastic trim on the seats is also year specific. Here's the breakdown by year.
1985-black pullstrap-black seat trim
1986-black pullstrap-gray seat trim
1987-gray pullstrap-gray seat trim

Here's a pic of the correct gray seat plastic for the 86-87. Even if you didn't have a power seat those trim pieces would be gray.

Maybe somebody replaced the seats with those from an 85? Hard to say seeing as these cars are 20 years old. A lot of stange stuff happens and used parts are plentifull.
