Proportioning valve?

Here is a question in the process of doing a restore on my 86' GN i stripped the frame of all the lines and removed the prop. valve it's a brass one would it be wise to replace this while its off or are they pretty reliable? I have no idea if it worked correctly car was a roller but it had fluid just a little dirty!

I replaced mine because I wanted new. Its a hundred bucks you can spend on something else. I would polish it up and put it back on. Very rare for it to go bad.

Thats what i was reading just wanted to hear from some guys and get a general opinion.
