pros/cons of external wastegate setup?

Eventually I will ditch the stock turbo for a TE44 or TA49 and I weighing the differences between an integral and external wastegate setup. Since I am a college student and on a budget price and drivability are factors, as this car is my only transportation. Thanks!

Internal stock type setup is all you need.

Ported elbow if on a budget or good 3" downpipe with built in elbow if you can afford it.

No need for external on your car in MHO.

ext vs int gate

You can go fast with either one and they both drive fine. The ext. gate setup can run into alot more money. If interested we have them both on sale in the advertisers special area.
