First off - building first Buick

Now that it has been said ..............

Have offer to buy a PTE63 @ great price. I do not see many of these turbos on combos I read about on this board. can anyone give me some info on these turbos?

Would like to put together a 11:0 / 10:90 car this year - stock block

Any info would be great !

I used to run a similar turbo, a PT64-1 that went 10.69 @ 125.8 at 25psi and 3550lbs. That turbo seemed to be done on my car at 25psi, it would go to 26psi but wouldnt go any faster and wouldnt go over 26psi.

Your goals of a high 10 second car should be met by a PT63 if it's a really good deal, though I would spring for a bigger turbo like a 67 or 70. With the p-trim 70 on my car now and no other changes it went 10.68 @ 125.6 at 25psi but 100lbs heavier raceweight, so making more power at the same boost level.

Hope that helps,
Steve

T63E here.

Im no turbo expert but I believe I have the same turbo as what ur talking about. My turbo is a bigshaft turbo so it will take more abuse. I was also told that the sweetspot is 26 pounds of boost, which to me sounds great because I have only pushed 20 so far and I feel the car is flying at that setting. I cant imagine what 6 more pounds of boost will do.

I have had my TE-63 for roughly 7 years and it has always been one of my favorites. It pulls like a mad man up top and with a Vigilante it spools quickly and has wonderful street manners. The times provided in my sig were done with a TE-63 with a set of mildly ported heads. I am tempted to put a set of Champions on it and see what happens when I get it back on the road.
